NEWS RELEASE: Stonewall DFL Endorses Dan Powers for Congress

(Burnsville, MN) - The Stonewall DFL recently endorsed Dan Powers. Stonewall DFL is the lesbian, gay, transgender, friends and allies caucus of the Minnesota DFL party.  This endorsement shows growing support for Powers, who is running to unseat John Kline in the Second Congressional District.

“Dan Power’s position on the issues that matter to our members, equal marriage rights, repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, and Equality for all Minnesotans made it easy for us to support Dan. We know he will be a very strong voice for us in Washington,” said Del Jenkins, chair of Stonewall DFL.

“I am very proud to have earned the endorsement of Stonewall DFL,” Powers said. “My campaign is based on listening to the constituents of the Second Congressional District. An open dialog needs to take place to educate and inform the public that LGBT citizens should have the same rights as you and I, and I will work to help make that happen on the Federal level.”

Stonewall DFL is a political organization with more than 4,000 members that works for a safe and equitable Minnesota.  Their mission is to elect LGBT and allied Democrats to office in Minnesota and within the DFL. Stonewall offers advice to candidates and campaigns about LGBT outreach and offers endorsements for local, state and federal DFL candidates. By its most recent assessment, it has a 92 percent success rate for endorsed candidates.
